Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) is a comprehensive backup virtual data centre based on Veeam or VMware vCloud Availability solutions, to replicate the client’s IT infrastructure into along with all the applications deployed in it. In case of a disaster or unavailability of the main infrastructure, you can switch to a backup in a few minutes, ensuring uninterrupted operation. At the same time, maintaining inactive backup infrastructure is much cheaper than cloud infrastructure of a similar size.
The main differences of Disaster Recovery from a regular backup service (BaaS) are high service recovery speed (RTO) and minimal data loss (RPO).

THE CASE OF THE BANK UKRAINIAN CAPITAL
The bank’s technical experts had two options for data protection: building their own centralised data centre or migrating to the cloud.
