Why do agribusinesses need a cloud?

Why do agribusinesses need a cloud?
  • The hardware that hosts databases and critical IT systems is becoming obsolete. After that, the cost of maintaining or updating it goes up.
  • Business development and expansion require an increase in the capacity of the IT infrastructure.
  • Agribusinesses use precision agriculture including computer and satellite technologies and collect large arrays of data that need to be stored and processed in a reliable place.
  • The agricultural sector is mainly seasonal in nature. At the height of the agricultural season, the need for powerful resources and high-quality equipment is greatest. In winter, there is no such urgent need, and a large part of the physical servers is not used.
about
More about the cloud

The GigaCloud cloud infrastructure is based on the VMware platform. Currently using the latest version of the product stack: VMware vSphere 6.7, NSX Edge 6.5, Cloud Director 10. Databases are hosted in fast all-flash storages with a performance of up to 20,000 IOPS. NSX EDGE virtual routers manage network connections to databases, terminal servers, etc.

The architecture of our cloud was designed to ensure the ability to quickly switch to new versions of VMware products, so we will always provide you with the modern functionality of this platform. The interface allows you to configure virtual machines according to the needs of the service, and the amount of dedicated resources is managed through the billing system.

Resources can be obtained in a day, and their amount can be increased or decreased just as quickly.

If necessary, you can lease licensed software under SPLA and MSLA and manage the number of licenses as flexibly as the infrastructure.

E-Cloud is hosted in three TIER III certified data centres, which have been operating without downtime for many years, GigaCenter, BeMobile (Kyiv) and Atman (Warsaw). The infrastructure of three data centres allows building fully reserved IT landscapes of any complexity. and reduce the number of single points of failure in the IT infrastructure.

The case of Kernel

As the risks of losing critical data and increasing requirements for the reliability and availability of the IT infrastructure grew, Kernel considered building a fault-tolerant solution and insurance options. After analysing the situation, they decided to develop and implement a backup site for critical business applications. Between hardware and the cloud, they chose the second option. Read below why the company chose the cloud.

The case of Dolynske Trading House

Since 2003, the company’s IT services have been running on its own servers. Traditional servers required constant maintenance, administration, upgrades and replacements. When it was once again time to update the hardware, the company realised that updating servers once every few years and constantly maintaining them is more expensive than leasing cloud infrastructure. Read the case study to learn how the company works now.

The case of Syngenta Ukraine

"Syngenta" in Ukraine had a hybrid IT infrastructure. Some services were hosted in foreign clouds. The more critical ones, such as financial software and local reporting programs, were hosted on the company's own server. With the start of massive shelling by Russia, the office was left without electricity for a long time. Read the case study to find out how cloud migration helped one of the world's leading agribusinesses to conduct all financial transactions on time.
